Enrolled at Emily Carr Institute, Adam Lupton is working towards his Bachelors in Communication Design. As a ‘true’ Vancouverite, Lupton draws his interest from that which he has known his entire life: the vast austerity of the matrix through the city.
Lupton strays from usual mediums, and instead chooses to compose on everyday objects — those that get overlooked on a regular basis. Having a keen interest in facial expressions and their emotive values, he combines his passion for street art, typography, and tattoos to form the basis of his descriptive works. Lupton purposely alters portions of his subject to create glaring contrasts. The result often elicits a shocking response from the viewer. His design work deals significantly with hand drawn typographic and illustrative elements, as he tries to separate from the clean systematic format of computer design.
